Privacy policy
CoopGamesDB is a free site for finding co-op games. We link to stores and to developers’ own pages. We do not host games, sell advertising, use affiliate codes, or sell personal data.
Who to contact
Questions about your data go to hello@coopgamesdb.com. These terms of data use are governed by the law of the Netherlands. There is no company name on this page yet; the address above is the way to reach the person who runs the site.
What we collect
Only what the feature you use needs:
- Account. Your email address, username, and a hash of your password (we never store the password itself). You confirm the email with a link that works for 24 hours.
- Optional Steam. If you link Steam in your settings, we keep the Steam id you give us and the list of games in that library, so we can show which of them are co-op games here. You can unlink it, and we forget the library.
- How you use the site. Lists (want to play, played, following), crews and their shared lists, game night answers, lobby membership, your profile, avatar, XP, badges, and games you submit or claim.
- Messages. What you send through help and contact, including the address you write from.
- Sessions. A sign-in can record that session’s IP address and browser, so you can end a session you don’t recognise. A session lasts 30 days without activity.
Store links
Links to a store go through an address on this site (/go/…) and then on to the store. We count the visit as a daily total per game and kind of link, so a developer can see interest. We do not store an IP address or a cookie for that count, and automated visits are not counted. The count is not an affiliate code: we are not paid when you buy.
Visits
Pages are measured with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It does not use cookies and does not store anything on your device. It tells us totals such as page views, country, and the kind of device, not a profile of you.
Cookies on this site
- Sign-in. A cookie that keeps you signed in. It is only set once you confirm your email and sign in.
- Theme. Light, dark, or follow the device. Only this browser needs it.
- A device mark. So a lobby, crew, or game night can tell this browser from the others when you have no account. It is a random value, not your name.
- A few short marks for an invite link, a dismissed hint, or the fact that you already signed up in this browser. They are not advertising cookies.
Where it is stored
Account data is stored in Frankfurt, in the European Union, in a Postgres database (Neon). The site itself is served by Cloudflare, which also sends our email and provides the visit totals above. Pages may be kept briefly at Cloudflare’s edge so they load quickly; those copies are the public pages, not your account.
How long, and how to take it away
We keep an account until you delete it. In account settings you can download everything we keep as a file, and you can delete the account. Deleting it removes the account and the community games it manages (their pages, screenshots, and updates). Games our editors added stay; an editor’s claim on one is cleared. Crews, lists, and other personal data go with the account.
Sale and update emails can be switched off in those settings, and every one of them has a one-click unsubscribe. Account emails (confirming your address, resetting a password) are part of having an account.
Age
You need to be 16 or older to create an account. We do not knowingly keep an account for anyone younger. If you believe we have, write to hello@coopgamesdb.com and we will delete it.
Who else sees it
We do not sell personal data and we do not share it for advertising. The services above process it only to run the site: the database host, and Cloudflare for hosting, email, and visit totals. A developer sees totals for their own game (visits to store links, and flags on facts), not your email address. Your email is never shown on a public page.
We will update the date at the top of this page when it changes. The current version is the one on this address.
